PARKERSBURG – Artsbridge’s Summer Music Series at City Park continues Thursday from 6:30 to 8 p.m. with the music group Insured Sound.

This event is sponsored by Generations Home Health and the City of Parkersburg. This week’s opening act will be Hannah Westfall and there will be several food vendors.

Founded in 1975 by the late drummer Dave Piatt, Insured Sound has entertained audiences in Ohio and West Virginia for 49 years. Insured Sound’s rich vocals and world-class musicianship have been enjoyed at festivals, charity events, reunions, wedding receptions and countless other events. The well-known group plays everything from classic ballads to the sounds of Motown and cover artists such as Frank Sinatra and The Eagles.

The members are Greg Ring, Susan Owens, Rick Barnhart, Don Staats and Matt Piatt.

Greg Ring plays keyboard, saxophone, flute, sings and does most of the musical arrangements for the group. Susan Owens is lead singer and her wide vocal range is well suited to portraying the styles of greats like Whiteney Houston, Etta James and Linda Ronstadt. Rick Barnhart is bassist and has also played with the contemporary gospel group Returned. Don Staats is lead guitarist and his vocals help add a beautiful harmony to the sound of their music.

Matt Piatt learned to play drums at an early age from his late father, Dave Piatt. Matt grew up with the band and joined as drummer in 2006 after playing with Christian rock group RED.

Westfall is a Marietta-based musician who frequently performs in the area with her husband, Levi Westfall. She is a licensed music therapist, a graduate of Marietta College, and has been active in the local music scene for over 10 years, playing folk, Americana, and indie covers and originals.

A voluntary donation is collected every week. If it rains, the concert will be moved to the Horseshoe Pit Shelter.
