Chris Brown gets live commentary role for Bills games at WGR Buffalo. | Story

Chris Brown officially succeeds John Murphy as the new live radio commentator for the Buffalo Bills on Audacy “Sports Radio 550” WGR.

Brown served as interim announcer last season after Murphy suffered a stroke in January 2023. Murphy resigned from the role in May. Brown will continue to host “One Bills Live,” which airs weekdays from 1-3 p.m.

“Chris is best suited to continue the Bills’ long tradition of informative, passionate and entertaining live commentary,” Senior VP/Market Manager Tim Wenger said in a press release. “His decades of knowledge of the organization will be invaluable as he takes the live commentary microphone.”

Bills COO Pete Guelli noted, “Chris has done the job at an extremely high level for parts of the last two seasons alongside Eric Wood and Sal Capaccio. He has a deep institutional knowledge of our team while also understanding the pulse of our fans. We look forward to Chris carrying the torch of the legends this job has produced with Van Miller and John Murphy.”

Brown joined WGR in 1997 as a reporter for the Bills. In 2006, he became co-host of “One Bills Live” with Steve Tasker and was promoted to host in 2020. Brown also hosts the weekly podcast “Bills by the Numbers.” From 1996 to 2018, he provided live commentary for the Arena Football League, Mid-American Conference, National Professional Soccer League and MSG.

“I have been fortunate to meet, work with and learn from Van Miller and John Murphy,” commented Brown. “I am grateful to be entrusted with this responsibility going forward.”

Eric Wood will return to WGR’s gameday broadcasts as co-commentator.
