The Brooklyn Nets basketball team has unveiled a brand new logo, and judging by fan reactions, it’s safe to say it’s a hit. Praised by both fans and design aficionados, the new secondary logo design “hints at Brooklyn’s unique style” with a stylized, cursive wordmark that’s contemporary and clean.
Sports logos are more than just a design – they are emblematic of a fan base’s identity – so it’s important that a new logo captures the hearts of fans. With its sophisticated, hidden design and stripped-back look, the new Nets logo is a stylish extension of the team’s already iconic identity.
According to Brooklyn Nets art director Jessie Kavana, the new design was part of a “two-year-long process.” The “Nets Thread” logo acts as a sleek standalone wordmark that is “stylized for the borough” and nods to the team’s New Jersey roots. The bold cursive font adds a touch of dynamism to the design, forming a subtle basketball hoop design that is incorporated into the letter “t.”
Design fans on the r/DesignPorn subreddit praised the hidden design, with one user commenting, “It’s literal enough to kind of hint at it, but abstract enough to not make it cheesy.” Another called it a “perfect logo,” adding, “Simple and straight to the point. Perfect 10.” Similar high praise was sung on X, where one fan commented, “This should be the main logo,” while another claimed, “This is extremely good. Best wordmark I’ve seen in a long time.”
