Brother of murdered mother Rachel Morin from Maryland speaks at RNC: “His sister’s death could have been prevented”
BALTIMORE – The brother of murdered Maryland mother Rachel Morin spoke at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee on Tuesday.
Morin, a mother of five children, was found raped and murdered along the Ma & Pa Trail in Harford County in August 2023.
Her suspected killer, Victor Martinez Hernandez, who police said was in the country illegally, was arrested in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and extradited to Maryland.
The focus of Tuesday’s RNC was on security, with particular attention on the Biden administration and whether adequate security measures were in place.
According to law enforcement, Martinez Hernandez left El Salvador in February 2023 after being wanted for murder, six months before Morin’s alleged killing.
“Rachel, a cheerful, successful athlete and mother of five, was raped and murdered by a suspected illegal immigrant,” said Michael Morin, Rachel Morin’s brother. “My sister’s death could have been prevented.”
