I love how The Boys season 4 features two Seven Supes telling directly opposing stories

Warning: This article contains SPOILERS for season 4 of The Boys.The young Season 4 was one of the most controversial of the series to date, but I absolutely loved the contrasting story between two superheroes from The Seven. With only one episode left, Season 4 is almost over, and there was a lot to talk about. While the protagonists’ attempt to stop Homelander continued, several other storylines shone, such as The young“The twist with Joe Kessler and Frenchie confronting his past. But the contradictory paths taken by two of the Seven’s main superheroes are undoubtedly the highlight of season four for me.”

A-Train and The Deep are an integral part of The young since the very first episode, but although they are villains in the majority of the series, Season 4 takes them on completely different paths. The duo came to this season to do Homelander’s bidding and had no real freedom in The Seven, leaving them searching for a purpose. While The Deep used his power and anger to feel superior, A-Train has finally stood up to the group and become a true hero.

With his brother constantly reminding him how toxic his role in The Seven was, A-Train finally found redemption in The young Season 4 by helping the main protagonists. In this season alone, A-Train has given Hughie Compound V, provided information about the Seven’s plans, hospitalized MM during a panic attack, and saved Starlight during her fight with The Deep. Since the character has flirted with redemption in the past, Watching him finally do the right thing and even enjoy being a hero was incredibly satisfying. making him one of the MVPs of season four.

On the other hand, The Deep has been on the scene throughout his time The youngand instead of taking the path of redemption through A-Train, he has fallen even deeper into villainy. He has attempted to belittle Ashley and Cameron Coleman at various points in Season 4 to prove his superiority as a Supe. Now he has pledged his loyalty to Homelander, as violence seems to be the only thing that gives him a sense of self-worth. As a result, both characters have gone opposite ways, and I loved the way The young has told each of her stories.

A-Train’s redemption was a crucial part of the fourth season and His story is made even better by the similarities to The Deep. Although they were both demoted from the Seven for different reasons, the duo attempted to find a new purpose in Season 2 and joined the Church of the Collective to that end. Although they had different experiences, both eventually rejoined the Seven; however, they were essentially made to obey Homelander. Given Homelander’s extraordinary power and intense personality, they were both afraid to challenge him, leading to A-Train and The Deep becoming his lackeys.

Perhaps their most terrifying similarity is that they have both killed their own partners. In Season 1, A-Train was dating Popclaw and seemed to have a genuine connection with her, but after she revealed information to the Boys, he injected her with drugs, causing Popclaw to overdose. The Deep’s experience was once again very different, as he had a complicated relationship with an octopus named Ambrosius. Despite the unorthodox nature of their romance, Ambrosius truly loved The Deep; however, after an argument broke out between the two, The depth destroyed her tank and refused to let her back into the water.

Ambrosius then choked to death, causing the antagonist to devote himself entirely to Homelander. Both scenes were truly awful, and while there is no justification for A-Train’s past, he has slowly started to improve since then. Unfortunately, The Deep continues to deliver some of the The young‘ most ridiculous moments and has only gotten worse as it shows no signs of growth. Since the two characters have such a similar background, A-Train’s Atonement is even betterand I really enjoyed watching him become a real hero in season 4.

Given their contrasting development this season, The fight between A-Train and The Deep demonstrates their differences excellently. While The Deep attempted to kill Starlight and Butcher on Homelander’s orders, A-Train showed up to stop him because he felt it was the right thing to do. The Deep was shocked by A-Train’s betrayal, especially because he thought they had some sort of bromance, but A-Train seemed relieved to tell his former ally that he had always hated him. This revelation hits him even harder considering how much The Deep relies on the approval of others while A-Train no longer craves the spotlight.

The fight was also one-sided, as A-Train’s powers are much stronger than The Deep’s. Although neither of them has much combat experience, A-Train at least had one real save before the fight, which gave him the upper hand. They both reached their own breaking points this season, but While The Deep cowardly chose to remain loyal to Homelander, A-Train voluntarily blew his cover to make one last rescueThe duo’s fight could be A-Train’s last big moment in The young after seemingly fleeing the country, but it would be a fitting ending that highlights his development.
