Bankruptcy trustee George Kittle and his wife Claire give advice to Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift

George and Claire Kittle have some wise advice to help NFL couple Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift take their love to the next level.

While I was with PEOPLE in front of Netflix’s Recipient Premiere, the 49ers tight end and his wife agreed that the hallmarks of a good relationship – especially when trying to juggle fame and the hectic schedule of the NFL – boil down to two simple things.

“Talk as much as you can. Communicate!” says George, whose wife of five years shares his opinion.

“The most important thing is communication,” agrees Claire.

Beyond the close contact, the Kittles have implemented a practice of their own at the end of each day that they believe could be beneficial for couples like Swift and Kelce.

“Claire thought it was a great idea and we’ve been doing this for a long time. We make sure to tell each other ‘I love you’ every night before we go to bed,” says George.

“And I think it’s just good to tell the person that, whether you’ve had an argument or you’re mad at each other. It’s just a good way to end the day,” he adds.

“I would say the same!” jokes Claire. “Good work.”

Kelce and Swift have seemingly managed to juggle their busy and often clashing schedules (Swift, for example, flew straight from her Eras shows in Tokyo to Las Vegas in February to support Kelce at Super Bowl LVIII, and Kelce has been a fixture at many of her concerts in return).

For Claire, being a WAG does mean more exposure given the huge platform the NFL offers, but no matter “how chaotic the world is,” the opportunity to return to a committed relationship makes all the difference, she adds.

“With everything that happens in our lives, you just say ‘I love you’ and it’s a nice little reset,” she says. “And then you wake up in the morning and you know wherever the world is taking you.”
