Ty Dillon joins forces with Richard Childress Racing for another NASCAR Cup Series start

NASCAR driver Ty Dillon will be back behind the wheel of a Cup Series car on Sunday when he competes for Richard Childress Racing at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

RCR and Dillon announced the news on Tuesday, revealing that he will compete in the Brickyard 400 in the No. 33 Titan Risk Solutions Chevrolet.

Dillon, who currently competes in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, will return to the Cup Series for his 243rd race. While he has yet to win a Cup Series race, he did win at Indianapolis Motor Speedway in the Xfinity Series.

“I’m excited to be back racing on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway oval, especially behind the wheel of the No. 33 Titan Risk Solutions Chevrolet,” Dillon said in a press release. “Kissing the bricks on the historic track is a special moment I’ve been able to experience with RCR. Every time we go to Indy, the memories come flooding back. I’m grateful for the opportunity and look forward to having a great time while representing Titan Risk Solutions.”

Dillon’s last NASCAR Cup Series race came earlier this year at Loudon in the USA TODAY 301 for Kaulig Racing, where he finished 16th.

Denny Hamlin predicts chaos at Brickyard 400

“Pocono has two and a half to three lanes. If you drive the cars side by side, it’s three lanes,” he said. “That means that when you’re racing, it’s actually two lanes because you have to leave a little bit of room.”

“Indy is one lane. And when I say one lane, I mean one lane. …We all know that it’s not advisable to be on the outside at this point. You want to be on the bottom, and then this is what will happen: We’re going down these long straightaways, and everyone is trying to be three lanes down. Everyone is trying to merge, and usually you’re probably going to end up seeing a lot of crashes.”
