Country singer Ingrid Andress says she was drunk during the national anthem at the MLB Home Run Derby

Country singer Ingrid Andress apologized Tuesday for her performance of the Star Spangled Banner before the 2024 MLB Home Run Derby on Monday at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas.

Andress, 32, said in a social media post that she was drunk during her performance of the U.S. national anthem and was checking herself into a rehabilitation facility.

“I’m not going to tell you (expletive) I was drunk last night,” Andress wrote in a post to X. “I’m checking myself into a facility today to get the help I need. That’s not how I was last night.”

“I apologize to MLB, all the fans and this country that I love so much for this performance. I will tell you all what rehab is like. I hear it’s super fun. xo, Ingrid,” she added.

The four-time Grammy-nominated singer received harsh criticism from fans and the media. Variety wrote that she “missed notes along the way, drawing visible reactions from the players in attendance.”

MLB is not commenting on the matter, spokesman Matt Bourne told AP.

Andress released her debut album, Lady Like, in 2020. Her breakthrough single, “More Hearts Than Mine,” peaked at number 30 on the Billboard Hot 100 and stayed on the list for 20 weeks.

The following year, 2021, Andress released “Wishful Drinking,” which peaked at number 47 on the Billboard charts and also spent 20 weeks in the top 100. In 2022, she released her second album, “Good Person.”
