What’s on Netflix has learned that Robb Cullen’s BET series Average type will be part of the Netflix schedule in August 2024 in the United States.

The series is a fictionalized version of Cullen’s life and follows an ordinary plumber who is drawn into the world of serious crime after his late father leaves him $10 million in stolen cash.

Season 1 of the series aired between June and August 2023 and received mostly positive reviews from press and audiences, with 962 reviews currently on IMDb. The series first aired on BET+, but also ran linearly on BET.

Deon Cole (Black-like, The deeper they fall) is the headliner of the series alongside Tammy Townsend, Malcolm Barrett, Cynthia McWilliams, Michael Trucco, Ashley Olivia Fisher, Kathrine Barnes and Ashani Roberts.

Now, a year after the first season aired, the series is streaming on Netflix, probably in the hope that it will generate significantly more interest. All ten episodes will be released on August 15, 2024 (subject to change).

As we just hinted, the show is by no means a one-off event. Just last month, BET+ confirmed that there will be a second episode of the show, with Deon Cole returning. A release date has not yet been announced.

This is Netflix’s latest acquisition of BET and BET+, with recent additions including The real husbands of Hollywood: More Kevin, more problemswhich landed on Netflix last December, and seasons 1-4 of The family businesswhich fell a few months earlier in September.
