Love Island 2024 fans are surprised by the harsh twist of the exit

Love Island Spoilers follow.

Love Island Fans were stunned when Maya Jama revealed the latest twist in dating history that gives one couple all the power.

In Tuesday’s episode (July 16), the Islanders were taken out of the villa to attend an exclusive VIP party where Jess Glynne performed a host of hits at a private party.

The celebrations didn’t last long, however, as host Maya arrived to tell the couples that a compatibility vote had taken place and the outcome would be decided by the public.

Nicole and Ciaran were the nation’s favourites, but the mood soon turned sour when Lolly and Konnor, Grace and Reuben, and Jess and Ayo all made it to the bottom three in terms of compatibility and were in danger of being eliminated.

But the twist was not yet over: Maya revealed to the surprised Nicole and Ciaran that they were responsible for who went home.

The twist sparked a reaction from fans on social media, with one X/Twitter user writing: “Ciaran and Nicole dumping a couple is BRUTAL #loveisland”

“Love Island just keeps getting more brutal doesn’t it? #loveIsland,” wrote a second viewer, with a third adding: “Oh damn a TWIST. Ciaran can’t send Ayo home, that’s his boy. Maybe it will have to be New Girl and Konnor #loveisland”

The exit twist was not the only surprise of the evening, as the party was interrupted by the arrival of two new sex bombs: Lola Deluca and Harry Baker.

“I’ve never been in a relationship and haven’t had any luck finding love myself, so I think I could definitely benefit from some Love Island Help,” said Lola, a 22-year-old content creator and model from Surrey.

Love Island is a great opportunity because it puts you in situations that you might not have otherwise been in. So I’m hoping to meet people that I wouldn’t otherwise meet. Now seems like the right time for me too, so I’m looking forward to meeting everyone.”

“At 25, I’m now on the wrong side of 20,” added Harry, a 25-year-old cable engineer from Birmingham. “I’m nearly 30, so it’s time I got a girlfriend and settled down. I’m 6ft 4in, have lots of tattoos, am tanned and funny.”

“People tell me I’m funny, anyway. I don’t know if they’re laughing at me or with me! When I go out at night, I’m always the first to get attention and when the girls come by, I can keep them there. It’s not just the looks, I have the personality to match.”

Love Island will be broadcast on ITV2 and streamed on ITVX.
