Michael Douglas belongs to one of the most famous film families in Hollywood: the two-time Oscar winner is the son of the legendary actor Kirk Douglas.

The 79-year-old is the son of actors Kirk and Diana Dill and has since started his own family with his wife Catherine Zeta-Jones and his ex-wife Diandra Luker.

Michael and Diandra had their son Cameron, now 45, in 1978, and with Catherine he had their 23-year-old son Dylan in 2000 and their 21-year-old daughter Carys in 2003.

However, his brothers are just as much a part of the film industry as he is. Check out his famous family in the photos below, including his three brothers Joel, Peter and Eric…

Joel Douglas

Joel Douglas is Michael’s younger brother, the second son of Kirk and Diana before their separation in 1951. He was born just one day after his mother’s 24th birthday.

Unlike his father and older brother, Joel, now 77, did not choose to act, but instead devoted himself to the production side of the film industry, working primarily as a film producer.

His career began in the 1970s as an executive at Mel and Noel Blanc’s media company Blanc Communications Corporation and he also produced several projects related to his family. He was a co-producer of “The 40 Years of the … On the hunt for the green diamond and 1985 The Pearl of the Nileand was Associate Producer of the Oscar-winning One flew over the cuckoo’s nest in 1975.

Joel was married five times: from 1968 to 1973 he was married to Susan Jorgensen, from 1975 to 1981 to Judith Corso, from 1986 to 2002 to Patricia Reid-Douglas, from 2004 until her death in 2013 to Jo Ann Savitt, and in 2024 he married Mascha; the wedding ceremony was performed by Michael. Peter Douglas

Peter Vincent Douglas is Michael’s half-brother and the first son of Kirk and his second wife Anne Buydens. Like his siblings and his father, he quickly found his feet in the film industry.

Michael’s half-brother Peter Douglas

Like Joel, Peter, now 68, was successful as a television and film producer and also worked as a photographer. Particularly noteworthy is his close collaboration with his father, which lasted until his death in 2020.

Like Michael and Joel before him, he was a key member of his father’s production company, The Byrna Company, and eventually became president. However, in 1978 he founded his own production company, Vincent Pictures. He also won a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Drama/Comedy Special in 1988 for his production of He who sows the wind.

The Emmy-winning television and film producer was particularly closely associated with his father’s production company, The Byrne Company

Peter has been married to Lisa Schroeder since 1991 and they are parents of Kelsey (born 1992), Tyler (born 1996), Ryan (born 2000) and Jason (born 2003).

Eric Douglas

Eric Douglas was the youngest son of Kirk Douglas, was also welcomed with Anne, and like his other family members, was involved in show business, albeit in a unique way.

Although he pursued a brief acting career, never quite achieving the success of his older brother or father, he also dabbled in stand-up comedy, often appearing with improv troupes and making allusions to being the “black sheep” of the Douglas family.

However, one of his performances at the Comedy Store in London has now become a legend in the British comedy scene. His response to the audience’s lukewarm reaction to his performance, namely: “You can’t do that to me, I’m Kirk Douglas’ son!”, led to an audience member shouting: “No, I’m Kirk Douglas’ son!” in reference to his father’s 1960 film Spartacus.

Eric died tragically in 2004 after a long battle with drug abuse

Unfortunately, Eric’s life was marked by problems with the law and drug abuse. In the 1990s, he was arrested several times for disturbing the peace, driving under the influence, and illegal drug possession, and was often in and out of rehab. He died of an overdose in 2004 at the age of 46.
