Oakfield singer performs at Dock Spiders game in honor of her brother

FOND DU LAC, Wis. (WFRV) – You could have heard a pin drop when Anabella Hartwig sang the national anthem at the WFRV Dock Spiders baseball game Monday night.

The Oakfield singer told Local 5 News this was her way of honoring her brother’s service to our country.

“He was on active duty in the Army and is now a member of the National Guard,” she said with a smile, sitting back with her family to enjoy the game.

A six-run seventh inning helped the Dock Spiders to a 7-3 victory over the Minnesota Mud Puppies on Monday night at Herr-Baker Field. With the win, the Dock Spiders improved their record to 18-29 on the season.

The team also distributed proceeds from another themed night centered on the movie “Star Wars,” with a portion of the proceeds benefiting the Fond du Lac County nonprofit organization Hope on the Block.

“It’s so gratifying,” said Nick Teifke. “We are grateful for the support of the entire community.”

Hope on the Block provides essential items and resources to community members in need at no cost. We do this through community pantries that are open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. We also offer a free grab-and-go meal on Friday nights in Fond du Lac.

On July 18th, the “Super Heroes” night will take place in the stadium. The game starts at 6:35 p.m.
