Admitting that you have a problem is the first step towards a solution.

For the Home Run Derby on Monday night (July 15) at Globe Life Field in Texas, country singer Ingrid Andress was chosen to sing the national anthem before the game began. What was meant to be a beautiful moment of tradition quickly turned into a viral moment of embarrassment as the crowd and home spectators realized that something was wrong with Ingrid Andressor at least their singing.

During the performance, she seemed to have great difficulty finding the right key, struggling through with a noticeably cracked voice. In one camera shot, a player even appeared to be stifling his laughter.

Today (July) Ingrid Andress spoke about what happened. In a statement shared online, she revealed that she was “drunk” and decided to check herself into rehab. The 32-year-old Michigan native wrote:

“I’m not kidding you, I was drunk last night. I’m going to check myself into a facility today to get the help I need. I wasn’t like that last night.”

The post continued:

“I apologize to MLB, all the fans and this country that I love so much for this performance. I will tell you all what rehab is like. I hear it’s a lot of fun. xo, Ingrid.”

The video of her performance has gone viral on the Internet, and many are comparing the moment to when Fergie sang the national anthem at the 2018 NBA All-Star Game. The “London Bridge” artist became a meme and the focus of ongoing public jokes.
