“I think Dontayvion Wicks will have a monster year”

Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love is among those who believe second-year receiver Dontayvion Wicks is set to have a big year in 2024.

When asked who could break through for the Packers, Love chose Wicks, the dynamic receiver who already demonstrated his great skills as a rookie, in an AMA video on Bleacher Report.

“I think Dontayvion Wicks is going to have a monster year this year,” Love said. “He was able to do a lot of phenomenal things last year. I think the sky’s the limit for him. His confidence is growing more and more, and the more reps he gets, the more comfortable he is in the system and just playing fast.”

A fifth-round pick by the Packers last year, Wicks made an immediate impact as a rookie, catching 39 passes for 581 yards and four touchdowns, and added two more catches and a touchdown in the postseason.

During the regular season, Wicks caught 67.2 percent of the passes he was targeted for and averaged 14.9 yards per catch and 10.0 yards per pass targeted. He also averaged over 2.0 yards per route run.

A smart route runner with explosive quickness and the ability to run after the catch, Wicks was a consistent force in Matt LaFleur’s passing game as a rookie, creating space for Love. With a jump in his sophomore year, Wicks could become a top target in one of the NFL’s best passing games in 2024.

Love also mentioned all-around receiver Jayden Reed as another potential breakout candidate for the Packers in 2024.

“Both guys, rookies last year, have done great things. I think these are two guys who are going to really step up this year and take the league by storm.”
