“I don’t want to write cliché dad songs” – Parker McCollum says he won’t try to write dad songs any time soon

Parker McCollum may soon become a father for the first time, but don’t expect any “Dad Songs” from the 32-year-old country star.

A number of other well-known country artists such as Lukas Combs have recently released concept albums focusing on fathers (see Fathers & Sons if you feel like crying), and there’s nothing wrong with that. But dad albums aren’t for everyone.

McCollum has a new album coming out and he and wife Hallie Ray have a child due in August, so could this mean Parker could soon be releasing songs about fatherhood?

As the young country star explained to Audacy, the answer to this question is a big “no”:

“For me, there are no dad songs… I don’t want to write cliche dad songs. If it’s something that really stands out and is well written and really honest and special, then I would take it out. But I don’t think I’m going to sit down and try to write dad songs any time soon.”

It doesn’t sound like he’s judging other artists for writing dad songs. McCollum just makes it clear that the fatherhood tracks aren’t for him. Unless one day he gets an idea for it and it develops naturally. Of course, that can all change once baby McCollum arrives. I suspect Luke Combs never thought he’d make a whole record of dad songs… and then he had two little boys, and now here we are.

Everything we really Do What is known is that Parker McCollum will be very busy as he is about to have his first child. But he has made it clear that once he becomes a father, this will not stop him from hosting his high-energy shows:

“I want to make sure that when these people go home, they feel that the money they spent or saved to come see you was worth every penny – that’s what I think about every night.”

He will have enough time to think about these things at night when he persevered all night with his newborn…good luck, Parker!
