Famous Route 66 celebration this weekend in Tulsa, Oklahoma
Did you know that Oklahoma has more miles of historic Route 66 than any other state in the U.S.? More than 400 miles of American history run right through this state. This weekend in Tulsa, Oklahoma, anyone can learn about the road’s history and celebrate its impact on our country as a whole at the Route 66 Road Fest.
The festival will be held on June 22nd and 23rd at the Tulsa Expo Center, is indoors and family friendly. This year there will be a classic car show for hot rod fans and even a special appearance by Richard Rawlings, the man behind Gas Monkey Garage. He will actually be at the festival and will want to visit with fans and visitors.
The festival is designed to look back at history and teach a little while still being fun. Kids can learn about the road, cars and Oklahoma while painting, exploring, playing games and more.

Speaking of cars, this year they plan to have some really iconic vehicles at the event, such as the Drag Strip Funny Car.
This festival also marks the start of the centenary celebrations of the “Mother Road”, which will officially celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2026.
In addition to the activities, Road Fest also features interactive reenactments of life on the original Route 66. And to make the experience even more authentic, real actors will be present, playing the roles and dressed up.
