Guard your gold and your deer teeth, you foolish mortals, for it is time to go mad! Bill Cipher is back and is determined to tell the true story of the classic Disney series. Welcome to Gravity Falls. The Book of Bill is a new entry in the lore of the popular show that invades our dimension on July 23. However, it is important to note that The Book of Bill is aimed at older readers and is not suitable for all age groups, as previous Welcome to Gravity Falls Books.

Written by the series creator Alex Hirsch, The Book of Bill will explore the origins of the chaotic Big Bad, how the demon became involved with the Pines family, and explore various interdimensional planes to melt our feeble human brains. There are two versions of the book. One is the regular hardcover edition, which features the title character floating in a purple hue. The second is a special Barnes & Noble edition, which features Bill Cipher in his classic gold look. This version includes 16 additional pages of life advice from the terrifying enigma himself.

Welcome to Gravity Falls was known for captivating the fanbase with secret codes and hidden messages throughout the episodes. Every few episodes, the cipher would change. Sometimes these codes were funny jokes about the plot. Most of the time, though, they were major clues about what was to come. A generation of Disney fans grew up exploring the show’s deeper lore this way, even coming together to participate in a worldwide scavenger hunt called The Cipher Hunt. Hirsch immersed himself in this style of advertising for The Book of Bill.

Morse codes, Valentine’s Day and cake

Alex Hirsch has not shied away from his Welcome to Gravity Falls Roots and promotes The Book of Billtapping into the macabre humor of the demon he voiced. In recent months, he’s dropped little hints, posting everything from twisted Bill Cipher-themed Valentine’s cards to an “Is It Cake” mug that opens the book to reveal a flesh-colored interior.

Hirsch’s latest Twitter ad is a video with a picture of the Pines family set on fire. In the background, the song “We’ll Meet Again” by Vera Lynn plays. Bill Cipher sang this song in the Welcome to Gravity Falls Series finale for Ford Pines, voiced by JK Simmons. A follow-up tweet showed a prism of Bill spinning against a black background. Morse code beeped beneath the cheesy music. Fans quickly deciphered the message, which repeated the words “There are three sides to every story.” Now the stage is set for the triangle-top hat to tell his tale.

The Book of Bill is the latest entry in the Welcome to Gravity Falls Canon. You can pre-order the hardcover edition or the Barnes & Noble exclusive edition now.
