Singer of the national anthem “Home Run Derby” says she was drunk and is visiting a rehab clinic

Country singer Ingrid Andress made headlines for all the wrong reasons ahead of Monday night’s Home Run Derby.

The four-time Grammy-nominated singer’s rendition of the national anthem was one of the worst ever. On Tuesday, she broke her silence and revealed the reason for her poor performance.

According to Ingrid, she was drunk. She made this clear in a blunt post to her social media followers in which she made no excuses and said she planned to check herself into rehab.

“I’m not going to tell you any bullshit, I was drunk last night. I’m checking myself into a facility today to get the help I need,” she posted.

“That wasn’t me last night. I apologize to MLB, all the fans and this country that I love so much for that performance. I’ll tell you all what rehab is like. I hear it’s a lot of fun.”

Respect to Ingrid for doing this. Experiencing a moment like this that goes viral is not an easy situation even under the best of circumstances.

She could have blamed everything and then asked her team to put up a smokescreen for her. But the 32-year-old didn’t do that.

Ingrid has instead chosen to take responsibility and seek the help she feels she needs. Again, my compliments for that. Hopefully she gets the help she needs and bounces back better than ever.

In 2021, she was nominated for three Grammy Awards. One for Best New Artist, one for Best Country Song for her hit More hearts than mine and third place for Best Country Album for her groundbreaking album Lady like.

Then, in 2023, Ingrid received another Grammy nomination for her duet with Sam Hunt, Wishful thinking.
