Former Buckeye challenges Michigan football legends

The rivalry between Michigan and Ohio State is undoubtedly the greatest in all of sports, and Tuesday we were given another example of that. When EA’s College Football 25 came out on Monday, both sides of the rivalry took the opportunity to bash each other in the video game. But it wasn’t just the fans who took the opportunity to call each other names. Former Buckeyes quarterback/wideout Braxton Miller also got in on the trash talking action, challenging Barstool Sports owner Dave Portnoy and Michigan football legends to a tournament.

There’s no doubt that this has been a rough time for guys like Braxton Miller. During his five seasons in Columbus, Miller posted a 4-1 record against Michigan and was part of the 2014 National Championship team. But those days feel like a lifetime ago now, and it’s the Michigan Wolverines who have been on the winning side of the rivalry in the last three consecutive meetings. To make matters worse (if you’re a Buckeye), Michigan has also won three consecutive Big Ten Championships, a Rose Bowl trophy, and a National Championship in 2023.

Given Michigan’s recent dominance in this rivalry, it’s no surprise that Buckeye Nation wants to take out its collective anger on the Wolverines in the only way it currently can: through a video game.

The rivalry shifts back to Columbus in 2024, when Michigan and Ohio State meet at the Horseshoe on Nov. 30. The Wolverines dominated the Buckeyes for most of the afternoon during their last visit to Columbus, and running back Donovan Edwards delivered a memorable performance. The end result was a 22-point win for Michigan, which led to an iconic moment when Mike Sainristil planted the Block M flag at the 50-yard line… right into the heart of every Buckeye fan across the country.
