Singer B. Cloyd performs at Graves-Hume Public Library

MENDOTA – Barry Cloyd returns to the Graves-Hume Public Library on Friday, July 26 at 6 p.m. to perform songs as part of “The American Songbag: A Tour of American History Through Folk Music.”

Cloyd combines his original songs with traditional songs, well-known and lesser-known cover versions. As an Americana artist, Cloyd musically ventures into all directions of folk/roots music, such as bluegrass and mountain music on a five-string banjo, the delta slid of riverboat music on a dobro, all types of acoustic guitars (four-string, six-string, twelve-string, high-string), altered-tuning instruments and mandolin.

Additionally, Cloyd is a talented singer and prolific songwriter who has made a living touring, songwriting and performing original edutainment programs for 24 years.

Ranging from colonial times to the Great Depression, this medley of songs and stories can either represent an overarching journey through time or focus on a single period of American history, such as the Civil War, the pioneering days, the steamboat era, the westward migration, or many others.

Please bring chairs or blankets to enjoy the music on the lawn behind the Graves-Hume Public Library. Ice cream will be provided. Thanks to Mendota Nightengales for sponsorship.
