Based on the 2013 New York Times bestseller, “The Supremes At Earl’s All-You-Can-Eat,” written and directed by Tina Mabry, stars Oscar nominee Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor, Emmy nominee Sanaa Lathan and Emmy winner Uzo Aduba as three women whose friendship has stood the test of time since the 1960s.

Zia Anger’s My First Movie stars Odessa Young, Devon Ross and Cole Doman. Sundance winner Daughters, about the power of the father-daughter bond during and after incarceration, comes from filmmakers Angela Patton and Natalie Rae and will be released by Netflix on August 14.

Hudson also stars in the lead role: “A New Kind of Wilderness” by screenwriter and director Silje Evensmo Jacobsen follows the journey of a family from an idyllic, wild life shaken by tragedy to a new life in society.

To celebrate the 15th anniversary of Wes Anderson’s animated film “Fantastic Mr. Fox,” the Hudson Film Festival, in partnership with the Hudson Area Library and Story Screen Cinema Hudson, presents a free screening of the Searchlight Pictures film. “The Taste of Things” will close the festival.

Acclaimed short films screening at the festival include “Essex Girls” by director Yero Timi-Biu and writer/actor Busayo Ige, and “OMW” by filmmaker Mary Dauterman.

In a joint statement, the co-founders of the Hudson Film Festival and Hudson Valley Film Institute said, “Diversity in programming and promoting, encouraging and collaborating with sister organizations in the community is at the heart of the second edition of the festival. We are committed to being a bridge between existing organizations and resources to work together to create an immersive cultural and artistic experience for the Hudson community. Featuring a wide range of excellent films from the Hudson region and around the world, we are excited to continue celebrating the power of film in the vibrant city of Hudson, NY.”
