Ohio State loses twice to Michigan, wins college football title 25

Ohio State Buckeyes fans: If I told you that you would win the national championship this season, but that you two If you had to accept losses against the Michigan Wolverines, would you sign?

This is the path College Football 25 has in store for Ohio State, according to Colin Gay of The Columbus Dispatch.

In a simulation of the 2024 NCAA football season run by an EA Sports video game, the Buckeyes won 11 games to start the season but lost to Michigan in the season finale and then lost again to the Wolverines in the Big Ten Championship.

But there shouldn’t be too much foam at the mouth yet.

Ohio State then entered the 12-team College Football Playoff—the first in history—as the No. 6 seed and won over Virginia Tech, Utah and then Mississippi to set up a matchup with Notre Dame for the national championship.

The Buckeyes defeated the Fighting Irish 38-24 to secure their first national title since 2014.

While winning a championship is obviously the ultimate goal, I’m not so sure that winning the trophy at the end of the year would be enough to erase the bitter taste of losing twice to Michigan. At least for some of Ohio State’s loyal supporters.

And as a little extra, defensive end Jack Sawyer and safety Caleb Downs were voted into the first-team All-American in the simulation. Running back TreVeyon Henderson, offensive guard Donovan Jackson and defensive tackle Tyleik Williams, meanwhile, landed in the second-team All-Americans.

The Buckeyes’ season proper begins on August 31 when they host Akron.
