Taylor Swift performs Travis Kelce’s Arrow Move on London Eras Tour

Taylor Swift went “full throttle” at the first London show of the Eras Tour to show her love for boyfriend Travis Kelce – while he was in the audience.

At the performance of “So High School” on June 21, the 14-time Grammy winner said made a surprise move which her boyfriend often uses at Kansas City Chiefs games: shoot an arrow with an invisible bow.

“So High School” is a love song with pointed lyrics about their relationship, in which Swift sings, “You know how to play ball, I know Aristotle,” referring to his talent as a football player and her ability as a songwriter.

In videos and photos taken by fans in the audience, Kelce, 34, can be seen dancing during the 46-song setlist of his superstar girlfriend and smiling as she repeated the bow and arrow gesture.

Swift had previously used this move while performing “The Archer,” but that song was cut from the setlist earlier this year when she replaced older songs with tracks from her latest album. The “Tortured Poets” section.

This is the first time the NFL star has seen her use the arrow gesture during “So High School.” Swift first performed the song live in front of him during the May 12 show in Paris.

Another sweet moment came at the end of the show, when Swift sang “Karma” to close the concert. Swift changed the lyrics, as she has only done a few times in the past when Kelce was present, to “Karma is the guy from the Chiefs that comes right to my house.”

The sold-out show on Friday night attracted a star-studded crowd, including Jason and Kylie Kelce, as well as Prince William and his children with Kate Middleton, among other celebrities.

This show, her first of three this weekend and eight in total in London this summer, was the latest in Swift’s long and often turbulent relationship with the English capital.

Already in the Red In the early 2010s, Swift mentioned the city in the bonus track “Come Back…Be Here”, which is speculated to be about her British ex-boyfriend Harry Styles (“But you’re in London, and I break down / ‘Cause it’s not fair that you’re not around”).

Fast forward to Swifts Call And Lover albums – which fans believe are about Swift’s six-year relationship with British actor Joe Alwyn – and references to London were in full swing again. The city serves as the backdrop for the music video for Call Track “End Game” and on LoverIn “London Boy,” Swift gives her fans a taste of some of her favorite attractions, including Camden Market, Highgate and the West End.

The references continued in Swift’s latest studio album, The “Tortured Poets” sectionwhere she used landmarks of the city as metaphors to seemingly commemorate the end of her relationship with Alwyn (“So Long, London”) – as well as the months she spent in 2023 linked to British musician and frontman of The 1975, Matty Healy (“The Black Dog”).

On Friday, as part of the show’s surprise song segment, Swift performed a mashup of three songs from “The Black Dog”, “Come Back…Be Here” and “Maroon”.

To celebrate Swift’s Eras tour shows, the London Eye announced a “Taylor by Candlelight” show, where fans can hear live orchestral performances of Swift’s music on the iconic observation wheel and then take home exclusive friendship bracelets.

The city government also organized two Swift-themed public art installations, created an online guide to help fans find places referenced in the singer’s music, and even designed a new subway map with renamed train lines named to match Swift’s albums.

Between tour stops in Edinburgh and Liverpool in early June, the “Cruel Summer” singer was spotted in London with a star-studded cast that included Kate Moss, Stella McCartney, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Cara Delevingne, Lena Dunham and Haim sisters Este and Danielle. The girls’ night out came amid news that ex Healy had confirmed his engagement to model Gabbriette Bechtel.

To round out the weekend, Swift will play two more shows at Wembley Stadium on Saturday and Sunday before travelling across the Irish Sea for several performances in Dublin.

In mid-August, Swift will return to London again, where she will complete her “European of the Eras” tour with five more dates in the city – in total they will attract almost 700,000 visitors and generate an estimated £300 million in revenue for the city’s economy, according to an estimate by the Mayor’s Office.
