Greenfield Recorder – Bulletin Board: Jason Kelton wins Country Club of Greenfield Senior Open

The Country Club of Greenfield hosted its Senior Open on Friday, with Jason Kelton emerging as the winner after a round of 68 strokes.

Wayne Wright scored the lowest net worth at 69.

In the Pinehurst Flight, Mark Karpiej and William Ingham tied for first place (71), while Rob Parsi took third place (72). Brodie Conant and Scott Bertrand tied for first place (70), while Dennis Sullivan and Roy Emerson tied for third place (71).

In the Royal Troon Flight, Ed Garbacik had the lowest gross score (73), while John Bresnahan and Al Alminas tied for second (74). Richard Tozloski had the lowest net score (70), while Jim Lafleur and Mark Kennedy tied for second (71).

At the Augusta Flight, John Shultis posted the lowest gross score (77), while Ernie Patnode finished second (79). Terry Sinclair (70) and Doug Finck (71) posted the lowest net scores.

Greenfield Elks League

Bill Erman and Paul Viens posted the highest score of 51.5 in the Greenfield Elks League at the Country Club of Greenfield on Wednesday.

Joe Lachance and Bill Martin shared second place (48.5) with Jerry Gaimari and Dan Hohengasser, while Keith Schempp and John Stacy had to settle for fourth place (48).

In the Closest to the Pin category, Jeff Neipp won at No. 2 (7 feet, 9 inches), while Dan Smith won at No. 5 (11-7).

DRIVE League

Grayson Thomas scored 22 points and Jon Breor added 14 to help Greenfield to a 72-46 victory over Athol in the DRIVE League boys varsity match at Greenfield High School on Thursday.

Ethan Bacigalupo scored 12 points while Ethan Heuer added 11 points for the Bears.

Later, Jack Cady scored 22 points and Oscar Korson added 19 points to help Brattleboro to a 73-59 victory over Easthampton. Trevor Canon-Smith led the Eagles with 20 points.

To close out the night, Morgan Softic scored 21 points while Jayden Delgado added 15 points in Orange’s 59-46 win over Hampshire. Vincent Carr had 14 points for the Raiders.

Franklin Tech Summer League

Skyler Steele scored 15 points, Harper Modestow added 10 points, Jazzy Hayes added eight points, while Whitney Campbell and Bella Orrell each scored four points in Frontier’s 48-28 victory over Pioneer in the Franklin Tech Summer Girls Basketball League on Thursday.

Addie Harrington scored 14 points, Emme Calkins had eight points, while Alexa Jagodzinski and Sophia Jagodzinski each scored three points for the Panthers.

In the second game of the night, Mahar took a 38-15 victory over Hopkins thanks to 29 points from Nevaeh Scribner, five points from Taylor Paluk and three points from Thea Whitmore.

Maggie Potter scored five points, while Laynee Crutch and Morgan Augustin both had four points for the Golden Hawks.

In the next game, Anna Bucala scored 13 points, Tayler Bergeron scored eight points and Niyah Strohman scored three points in Greenfield’s 24-15 win over Athol. Ava Martin had nine points, Ava Adams scored four points and Jayla Taylor added two points for the Bears.

To close out the night, Haleigh Benoit contributed 11 points, Brayleigh Burgh scored 10 points, Lilianna Inman finished with eight points and Laken Woodard added five points in Franklin Tech’s 38-23 victory over Greenfield.

Bucala (14), Bergeron (four) and Strohman (three) were the Green Wave’s most successful point scorers.
