Lynbrook Golf Club announces its upcoming Par 3 charity tournament

Attention! Lynbrook Golf Club invites amateur golfers to participate in the Ace the Hole Challenge on Saturday, July 27, when the club hosts its second annual largest charity tournament.

The upcoming challenge includes a buffet breakfast and dinner, is limited to 36 teams and – aside from generous prizes to be won – the proceeds will go towards the ongoing upgrade of the course’s third hole.

The tournament provides an exceptional opportunity for amateur golfers over the age of 18 to have a bit of fun. The tournament also offers the “chance to win big cash prizes if they are lucky enough to score a hole-in-one,” added Bev Arnold, the captain of the Lynbrook Ladies Club.

This is only the second time the Par 3 tournament has been held, but Arnold said the prizes have become more valuable and this year’s tournament will include a golf-based horse race.

What is special about the Par 3 tournament is that the scoring is slightly changed so that all 18 holes of the Lynbrook Golf Course become Par 3.

All hole-in-ones – including holes 1 through 18, but excluding hole 7 – have a prize of $6,000 to $25,000, and the players closest to the pin receive $200 per hole. The prize values for a hole-in-one are clearly marked depending on the difficulty of the course, and hole 7 is the only exception, with a prize package valued at around $2,500 up for grabs.

The event also includes a 50/50 draw and a post-tournament horse race with 20 places available.

The horse race is played by 20 golfers playing a round, with the player with the highest score on each hole being eliminated. Once the group is reduced to just one player, that player is declared the winner.

Afterwards there is dinner, which is included in the ticket price. It consists of roast beef on a bun with a variety of salads. The earlier breakfast buffet is not included in the ticket price and costs $10.99.

“It’s an opportunity to have fun, meet new people and make friends,” Arnold said. Plus, she added, it’s “a great way to spend a Saturday (and) we’re supposed to have great weather.”

Each team will be organized as a team of four. There are currently 23 teams registered for the tournament and 13 places are still open.

To register for the upcoming tournament, contact the club’s pro shop or stop by in person.

Lynbrook Golf Club is located at 1525 Fourth Avenue Northwest and the Pro Shop can be reached at 306-692-2838. For more information, visit LynbrookGolf.org or follow Lynbrook Golf Club on Facebook.
