Renovation of Shifa Hospital began in the middle of the war between Israel and Hamas

Renovation and reconstruction work at Shifa Hospital has most likely begun, various media outlets in the Arab world reported on Friday.

While Israeli forces are still battling the terrorist organization Hamas in the Gaza Strip, reconstruction work at Shifa Hospital is believed to have already begun. Footage circulating on social media shows the damaged building with scaffolding visible outside, suggesting that renovation work has likely begun.

On October 27 last year, an IDF spokesman revealed intelligence information that Hamas had set up its main command center and additional headquarters under Shifa Hospital. These headquarters were intended to serve as human shields and prevent IDF attacks on terrorist infrastructure and senior Hamas figures. In addition, footage was also released showing Israeli hostages being led into the hospital by armed terrorists on October 7.

In addition, an Israeli Defense Forces spokesman announced that Hamas terrorists had murdered hostage Noa Marciano in the hospital. Following these incidents, the hospital director was arrested and handed over to the Shin Bet (Israeli domestic intelligence agency) for investigation.

Further evidence of Hamas activities at Shifa Hospital

After the announcement of her murder in captivity, Marciano’s parents claimed that a doctor at the hospital chose to murder her rather than care for her. JerusalemPost reported in early May, citing the Jewish ChronicleDespite Hamas claims that she died in an Israeli airstrike, an IDF statement said: “The observed wounds appear more consistent with gunshot wounds… it is possible that the injuries were the result of a fall from a height,” the IDF statement said. JerusalemPost further reported.

In March, special forces from the Israel Defense Forces and Shin Bet raided the hospital after intelligence confirmed that Hamas had set up a command center there. About 200 terrorists were neutralized, including the head of Hamas’ internal security operations, Faack Mabhough, and about 800 suspects were arrested, including senior Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad members such as Mahmoud Kawasme.

The operation uncovered large sums of money and equipment for terrorist purposes as well as important intelligence materials.
