Celebrities with frightening connections to other famous deaths

While Peter Lorre may not be the biggest name in celebrity news, he was certainly a pretty big personality in Hollywood’s golden days. Born in Hungary, Lorre became a major movie star, famous for his portrayal of villains. He simply excelled with a creepy, quiet, almost psychotic stage presence that landed him roles in some pretty big movies, many of which you probably know, like Crime and Punishment, Casablanca, and The Maltese Falcon.

Where Lorre enters the realm of dark, infamous deaths is actually with his daughter. In November 1977, Catharine Lorre was walking home when she was approached by two men who tried to persuade her to get into their car. She declined their offer after proving to them that she was Peter Lorre’s daughter by showing them a photo of herself with her father when she was still a child. They ultimately let her go, but as the world later learned, Peter Lorre’s daughter almost became a victim of the Hillside Stranglers.

Cousins Angelo Buono Jr. and Kenneth Bianchi terrorized the Los Angeles area between October 1977 and February 1978. During that time, they kidnapped, raped and strangled ten women, often dumping the bodies on hillsides. Lorre had been another intended victim, but as it turned out, they were actually fans of her father’s films and decided to leave her alone since murdering a star’s daughter would attract too much attention.
