An Israeli drone strike on Tuesday targeted a motorcycle on the Kfar Tebnit-Khardali road, reportedly killing two Hezbollah members.

Meanwhile, the outskirts of the southern city of Deir Mimas were shelled with heavy caliber artillery shells.

Israeli forces had fired large-caliber machine guns at dawn into the forests bordering the southern border towns of Ramia, Aita al-Shaab, Naqoura and Alma al-Shaab. Israeli artillery also targeted the Litani River, the Slouqi Valley opposite the town of Qabrikha and the outskirts of the town of Bani Hayyan.

On Monday evening, Hezbollah announced that it had fired dozens of rockets at the Israeli border town of Kiryat Shmona in response to an Israeli attack that killed a Hezbollah member and his sister in Bint Jbeil.

Since the Palestinian militia’s attack on Israel on October 7 triggered the war in the Gaza Strip, Hezbollah has been engaged in almost daily exchanges of fire with Israeli forces in support of its ally Hamas.

The violence is largely confined to the border region and raises fears of an open conflict between the two enemies, who last fought a war in the summer of 2006.

In Lebanon, according to an AFP count, 505 people have been killed in cross-border violence since October, most of them fighters, but also 98 civilians.

On the Israeli side, at least 29 people were killed, most of them soldiers, according to authorities.
