Mbappé lands at Real: “I will give my life for this club, the best in the world”

Madrid, July 16 (EFE). – Kylian Mbappé was unveiled as Real Madrid’s new star on Tuesday in a “Super Bowl”-style ceremony at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium in Madrid.

The Paris-born captain of the French national team, who wears the number 9 on his back, said the move to the Bernabeu was a dream come true.

“It’s incredible to be here. Today my dreams are coming true. I am a very happy boy,” he said in Spanish.

“I want to fulfil another dream, which is to be at the level of Real Madrid, the best club in the world, and I will give my life for this club and this shirt,” added Mbappé, who has been the top scorer in the French league for the last six seasons and was world champion in 2018.

“We strive to make your dreams come true,” said club president Florentino Pérez, who was accompanied by Real legend and former French international Zinedine Zidane.

“Kylian, welcome home. Welcome to Real Madrid,” said Pérez.

For the presentation, the club built a catwalk with giant screens leading to the main stage and set the club’s record haul of 15 Champions League trophies on the pitch, where Mbappé was greeted by around 80,000 of his new fans who packed the Bernabéu Stadium.

Mbappé has signed a five-year contract, ending one of the longest transfer sagas in football history.

Real had long wanted to bring him to the Spanish capital. In 2012, at the age of 14, he was invited to join the club, but ultimately stayed in Paris.

Mbappé later rose through the ranks at Monaco before signing with PSG for €180 million in 2017.

Now 25 years old and coming off his most prolific season in France with 44 goals, the French superstar is looking to make an impression at Real and cement his status as one of the best players in the world. EFE
