Generation Z couples test their love with TikTok relationship challenges

The ultimate compatibility test is not how you get through the tough times, but whether you pass these TikTok love tests.

Members of the constantly online Generation Z are using the social media app to demonstrate that there are many ways to find out if the man you’re dating is a perfect match. And while none of these ways are necessarily backed by experts, couples are considering the results to be indicative.

First, there is the “orange peel theory.” This trend is based on the fact that your partner is more likely to take care of you if they do a small, mundane task for you, like peeling an orange.

Numerous TikTokers have participated in the seemingly silly trend on the platform since it first gained popularity last fall, with some who failed to make it say they quickly met their romantic end.

One woman shared on Reddit that she dumped her boyfriend immediately after months of asking him to do small tasks for her, which he stubbornly refused to do. While his failure to fulfill her requests wasn’t a reason for the breakup, the fact that he’s “lazy” was.

Next comes the “Beckham Test,” which tests how well you and your partner are in harmony.

The test, named after David and Victoria Beckham, refers to a moment in their hit Netflix documentary where Posh Spice turns on “Island in the Stream” and starts dancing, while David quickly joins in and the couple dance in sync.

To find out if you are really on the same wavelength, turn on the music one night and see if your partner is vibrating with you. If they are and are in step, it might be true love.

“The bird test states that when you’re with someone… romantic or not, you say something that could be considered insignificant and your partner responds with genuine curiosity – that’s a really good sign that your relationship is going to last,” the TikToker explained. Francesca Leyen

Last fall, the “bird test” also went viral on the Internet as another relationship test to find out if you and your sweetheart are really wired alike.

“The bird test states that when you’re with someone… romantic or not, you say something that could be considered insignificant and your partner responds with genuine curiosity – that’s a really good sign that your relationship is going to last,” Alyssa Caribardi, who apparently coined the term, told her TikTok audience at the time.

But if your partner “rejects you,” she added, “that’s a really bad sign.”

Finally, there is the “strawberry test”, which is a little puzzle.

According to the Daily Mail, ask your partner to imagine a strawberry field behind a fence while hungry and then ask them a series of questions: How high is the fence? How many strawberries do you eat after climbing over the fence? What do you say to the farmer who catches you? How do the strawberries taste? How do you feel after taking them without permission?

The fence is a symbol of self-control. The higher the fence, the easier it is for children to resist temptation and the less likely they are to cheat.

The number of berries symbolically corresponds to the number of people they can be in love with at once, and their reaction to the farmer’s scolding is the same as they would react if they were caught cheating. If they feel remorse after stealing the berries, it is likely the same feeling they would have after having an affair.
