Cloudboom Strike LS: Our new technology

At the gifts LightSprayTMa new and revolutionary technology developed for shoe uppers. Born in the On Labs in Zurich and conceived by an in-house team of innovators, it marks a new era of innovation in shoe manufacturing and performance. The technology will be used for the first time in the high-performance running shoe Cloudboom Strike LS (LightSprayTM). LightSprayTM uppers are not constructed like traditional shoe uppers. They are precision-crafted in a rapid, one-step manufacturing process automated by a robotic arm in the On Labs. The result is a one-piece upper that is ultra-lightweight and provides exceptional fit and support. The ultra-thin, seamless design minimizes distractions and even makes shoelaces unnecessary. The revolutionary one-step LightSpray manufacturing process paves the way for more sustainable production in the future. The fully automated process reduces waste and produces an upper with 75% less CO2 emissions compared to other On shoes.

The process enables faster production of high-performance shoes with less waste. In addition, it creates new opportunities for circular production and products, thanks to its construction from a single recyclable material and an assembly process that no longer requires glue. «“LightSprayTM represents an important milestone for On, not only in the development of high-performance products, but also in terms of its potential to lead us into a more sustainable and circular future,” said Marc MaurerCo-CEO of On. «Our team is constantly striving to rethink the status quo in terms of design, development and production of high performance sportswear. LightSprayTM technology will further advance our mission to be the most respected sportswear brand based on innovation, design and impact.” On athletes were directly involved in the development and testing of this technology and shoe. Earlier this year Hellen Obirifour-time world champion and winner of the Boston and New York Marathons, wore a development version of the Cloudboom Strike LS when she won the Boston Marathon for the second year in a row.
