Two classic “Mobile Suit Gundam” series confirmed on Netflix

We’re gradually learning about all of the upcoming Netflix titles set to release in August 2024. These include two classic Mobile Suit Gundam series that were first released in the early 2000s.

So what new shows are coming to Netflix?

Mobile Suit Gundam SEED (Season 1) – The series will air in 2022, has a rating of 7.7/10 on IMDb and includes a total of 50 episodes. The story of the series follows the young Kira Yamato, a coordinator in the raging war between two races over a neutral colony.

Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny (Season 1) – This series, which again has 50 episodes, airs two years later. It takes place two years after the events of SEED (which means it’s best to watch the series in order). ZAFT is about to start another war against normal humanity. The focus this time is on Shinn Asuka and many characters from the first part return.

The two shows are also streaming on Crunchyroll, and their availability on Netflix is not expected to impact their streaming availability there. There were more

What else Mobile Suit Gundam Titles are on Netflix?

With the caveat that these may not be available in all international regions, but have been streaming on Netflix US since July 15, let’s take a look at what’s already available:

For the United States, you picked up all available Mobile Suit Gundam titles in June 2021, including an anime film collection and Hathaway, which landed exclusively on Netflix.

As with the two series mentioned above, much of Mobile Suit Gundam’s back catalog is only available on Crunchyroll, but many are also available on Hulu.

Remember that Netflix will soon be the exclusive home of a brand new Gundam series, Gundam: Requiem for Vengeance. Not much is known about the new series other than its release on October 17, 2024 and the first look we caught a while ago. With any luck, we’ll learn more about it in the near future, possibly at the Geeked Week event scheduled for September 2024.
