July 16, 2024 – Southwest and Archer plan to jointly develop an operational concept for integrated electric air taxi networks to support the California airports and surrounding communities served by Southwest. The collaboration will include working with Southwest employees and unions, including SWAPA, to maintain and improve operational efficiencies. This initiative aims to potentially provide Southwest customers with an airport transportation service that reduces travel time by optimizing passengers’ door-to-door journeys.

“Southwest is eager to explore the convenience that Archer’s air taxis can provide to customers flying with Southwest at airports in busy urban areas,” said Paul Cullen, vice president of real estate for Southwest Airlines. “We have been proud to be California’s largest airline for nearly 25 years, and integrating Archer’s electric aircraft into the travel experience potentially offers us an innovative way to enhance the Southwest flying experience. We look forward to working with Archer as we evaluate future commercial operations in California and other Southwest locations.”
