The series “Let’s Talk Bayfront” provides current information on the construction of the Parkway

PennDOT Project Manager Justin Baker discusses the progress of ongoing construction on the Sassafras Street Extension and additional work on State Street.

A hybrid roundabout will be built at the Sassafras Extension. The roundabout will accommodate two lanes from the east and west, as well as a single-lane approach from the north at the Bayfront Convention Center.

The $111.7 million project to improve the central portion of the parkway will continue in the coming years. It includes lowering the highway under State Street, building a roundabout and pedestrian bridge at Holland Street, building a multi-use trail connecting the existing trails, and adding new sidewalks and lighting.
