May 2024 marks the 43rd month that the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S have been available. Last month, the gap in favor of the PlayStation 5 grew by 0.58 million units compared to the simultaneous launch of the Xbox Series X|S.

In the last 12 months, 13.75 million more PlayStation 5 units were sold than Xbox Series X|S. The PlayStation 5 is currently in the lead with 30.04 million units.

The PlayStation 5 sold 58.78 million units in 43 months, while the Xbox Series X|S sold 28.74 million units. The PlayStation 5 has a market share of 67.2 percent (+3.6% year-on-year), compared to 32.8 percent for the Xbox Series X|S (-3.6% year-on-year).

When you add up the launches, the PlayStation 5 is currently 1.07 million units behind the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox Series X|S is 2.86 million units behind the Xbox One.
