The second episode begins with a group date in Australia, where Devin kidnaps Jenn for a few hours. The other dates don’t like this, especially Aaron Erb.

Aaron and Devin waste no time creating drama in season 21 of The Bachelorette.

After Devin kidnaps Jenn during the group date, he clashes with almost all of the guys. The date ends at the International Comedy Festival in Melbourne, where they have to perform in front of an audience. Unsurprisingly, the guys have their sights set on Devin.

Aaron, who is clearly not a fan of Devin, makes many digs at him. Aaron does not hide his disdain for the Houston native and eventually takes Devin aside for a chat.

He essentially speaks for Jenn, telling Devin – who he always calls “Dylan” – that she wants to be with a man, not a “boy” like Devin. Aaron also hints that Devin may not be right for Jenn. OK, how does he know that? Does he know Jenn better than she knows herself?!

At the group date after-party, tensions escalate as Aaron and Devin compete for Jenn’s attention and constantly interrupt each other’s conversations. Luckily for everyone else, neither of them receives the group date rose!

While the other half of the guys are on their second group date, Aaron says he and Devin have unfinished business. Aaron confronts Devin about his lack of confidence and tells him that his arrogant behavior is affecting the other guys in the house.

Aaron’s use of “Dylan” visibly upsets Devin, and he becomes increasingly baffled by Aaron’s claims about Jenn’s preferences and their own compatibility, especially given the limited time they’ve spent together.

Aaron gives Devin a book about emotional intelligence.

To increase the tension, Aaron calls Devin a tyrant and gives him a self-help book called Principles for personal growth. OK, does this sound familiar to anyone else?!

This immature gesture is reminiscent of a memorable moment from season 16 of The Bachelorette, when Bennett Jordan gave Aaron’s twin brother Noah a similar book. Very interesting, don’t you think? Why did Aaron decide to repeat this gesture, especially knowing that his brother Noah was in a similar situation to Devin?

Thomas Nguyen says Devin is a bully without morals.

At the cocktail party, Devin talks to Jenn first – and the other guys are angry. Many feel that Devin shows them no respect and accuse him of breaking his word.

Thomas N. claims that he will not tolerate disrespect and interrupts Devin’s time with Jenn to confront him. But should the Bachelorette have all the attention? Isn’t the point of the show to get to know the leading lady and not the other guys?!

Jenn overhears the heated argument between Thomas and Devin, during which Thomas basically calls Devin an asshole. He claims Devin promised them he would spend time with Jenn first, which Devin strongly denies.

Thomas complains that he and the others didn’t get to spend time with Jenn on the second group date and only one person got to spend extra time with her at the end of the night. Okay, we get what he means, but how can this be Devin’s fault?

Devin replies that Thomas is embarrassing himself and points out that Thomas immediately interrupted him and Jenn to argue instead of talking to Jenn and further developing their connection.

They soon go their separate ways and Devin rejoins the other guys, hinting at underlying tension. Devin says that no matter what he does, he is always criticized for his actions.

Sam McKinney calls Devin a doppelgänger, adding that he doesn’t act like some of the other guys. Jeremy Simon, while also critical of Devin, respects that he stays true to himself. He also points out that Thomas’ impulsive interruption didn’t take Jenn’s feelings into consideration – and we couldn’t agree more.

After Jenn addresses Thomas’ behavior, he goes outside to calm down. He confides in Sam Nejad and reveals how difficult it is for him to contain his anger at Devin. He even goes so far as to say that he wants to punch Devin in the face.

Devin soon joins Thomas outside and expresses his desire to talk rather than fight. Thomas responds by warning that Devin would “get a beating” if he actually pursued a physical confrontation. Fine!

Their conversation is brief before Thomas goes back inside and accuses Devin of being a bully and having no morals. Sam M. continues to criticize Devin, while John Mitchell acknowledges Devin’s point of view but criticizes his behavior.

At the rose ceremony, Aaron, Devin and Thomas all receive roses. So folks, it looks like the drama will continue next week!

The Bachelorette airs Mondays at 8pm EST on ABC. It can be streamed the next day on Hulu.
