Public invited on Wednesday to update the nationwide climate action plan

The Routt County Climate Action Plan Collaborative will provide a public update on the progress of the countywide action plan during a virtual meeting on Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Virtual attendees can hear updates and actions taken so far by the Collaborative to implement the Climate Action Plan. Keynote speaker will be Gail Garey, CAP Collaborative Board Chair and Steamboat Springs City Council President, along with updates from members of the Collaborative Working Group. Citizens can ask questions during a Q&A session following the update.

The update is part of the Yampa Valley Sustainability Council’s July community meeting. Interested participants should register in advance for the update session via YVSC.org/yvsc-events..



Routt County’s Climate Action Plan with details at RouttClimateAction.comis a strategic roadmap with 22 actionable strategies to reduce carbon in the energy, transport, waste, land use and economy sectors.

In 2021, Routt County and the communities of Steamboat Springs, Hayden, Oak Creek and Yampa adopted the Climate Action Plan and signed an intergovernmental agreement to develop the CAP Collaborative. Overseen by a nine-member board, the collaborative facilitates regional decision-making, tracks implementation of the plan and provides accountability.
