The Star Spangled Banner opens every sporting event in the United States, sometimes resulting in tears and raw emotion.

Sometimes it’s the other way around: players and fans have to hold back their laughter at the disastrous performance of the national anthem. The latter was the case on Monday night at the 2024 MLB Home Run Derby.

Ingrid Andress, a Grammy-nominated country singer, had trouble singing the Star Spangled Banner at the Derby. Her performance went viral and her fans mocked the performance on social media.

Andress struggled to sing the Star Spangled Banner, drawing criticism on social media and some boos from the audience in real time.

Andress is a 32-year-old American artist whose most popular song is β€œMore Hearts Than Mine,” which peaked at number 30 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Fans’ reactions to the MLB Home Run Derby national anthem

Most of the reactions came on social media and were not supportive of Andress. People posted pictures of Klay Thompson and Donald Trump with bleeding ears.

Fans even mentioned Fergie, who famously struggled with her rendition of the Star Spangled Banner at the 2018 NBA All-Star Game.
