Homewood Rotary Club donates book packages to Homewood Public Library

The Homewood Rotary Club generously donated $3,600 to the Homewood Public Library Children’s Department to purchase 30 packs of books.

The book packages will be raffled off to the winners of the summer reading raffles over the course of the summer.

The summer reading program has started at the library. More than 1,800 children have registered. Participants can enter a drawing for book packages and learning materials by logging their daily reading or listening activities.

“The Rotary Club of Homewood is proud to financially support the Homewood Public Library’s Summer Reading Program through its Education Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization,” said Jennifer Kyle, past president of the Homewood Rotary Club. “Promoting education is one of Rotary International’s seven areas of focus, and is therefore extremely important to our club members. Providing book packages is one of the many ways we invest in the education of children, youth and young adults in our community.”

The Homewood Public Library promotes summer learning and prevents students from losing material during the holidays through initiatives like summer reading, giving children access to books year-round. The library says support from organizations like the Homewood Rotary Club is critical to achieving this goal each summer.
