On June 17, President Ayla Baney opened the High Plains 4-H Club meeting at 7:00 p.m. The Secretary and Treasurer’s reports were read and approved.

The club then discussed old and new business.

As for old business, two members were honored for selling the most raffle tickets for the club: Piper Withers sold 258 and Tony Dallegge sold 276. Several members who participated in the statewide camping trip to Rapid City, South Dakota, spoke about the fun experiences they had. Ayla Baney and Zaylee Croissant competed in the local Creative Chefs contest with a Fourth of July theme and will compete at the Colorado State Fair in August.

Among their new assignments, members Grace Petersen and Piper Withers will compete on the Family and Consumer Science Judging team at the State 4-H Conference this week. We wish them the best of luck!

This month we had great demonstrations from the following people: Ayla Baney: “The Digestive System of a Ruminant Cow,” Bode Baney: “Different Types of Ovens for Cooking,” Caleb Lichtenwalner: “How to Transport Your Guns Legally and Safely,” Cody Lichtenwalner: “Different Instruments for Canning,” Bridon Croissant: “What Type of Glue to Use on Rockets,” and Zaylee Croissant: “What You Need to Care for Different 4-H Animals.”

Tyson Weingardt of Premier Farm Credit was our guest speaker. He encouraged members to apply for the GRO program, which provides grants for farming and ranching projects.

The Summer Picnic Committee has been formed and we will be hosting a picnic for members at our July 15 meeting.
