Deion Sanders’ daughter Deiondra is engaged to singer Jacquees

Double congratulations are in order for Deiondra Sanders and Jacquees!

The daughter of NFL legend Deion Sanders and the singer got engaged in front of their family and friends during the couple’s baby shower on the weekend of July 13 and 14.

The celebration was supposed to be a pool party/baby shower, but 30-year-old Jacquees had a surprise in store for his 32-year-old girlfriend.

The couple reportedly began dating in 2023 and learned in March that they were expecting their first child together.

Both posted about the celebration on Instagram. Deiondra’s social media post featured emotional photos from the party as well as close-ups of her sparkling round diamond ring.

“I am so excited. I was not expecting this at all. I don’t even have to say much because we both know what’s going on. 🤞🏾,” she wrote on Instagram on Monday, July 15. “I know this has taken a lot of courage, honesty, letting go of fear, tremendous nerve and confidence. I am so proud of you and will be here for you every step of the way to help you become the man God intended you to be💕”

Jacquees, whose real name is Rodriquez Jacquees Broadnax, posted a long letter dedicated to his now-fiancée. “It took so much courage and faith,” he wrote on Instagram on Sunday, July 14.

Some slides showed pictures from their pool party/baby shower. Others included a caption for Deiondra detailing how they met, when they found out they were pregnant, and how much he adored her.

“I always wanted to be the man every woman dreams of being, just like you see me. I know I can be that. I know I am,” he wrote in the four-page letter, adding, “Our little boy is going to be such a blessed baby!”

“I want you to know that you can count on me forever,” he concluded the letter. “I will always do my best to be the best for you and my family… I want to seal the deal, will you marry me, Deiondra Sanders?”

Jacquees also shared intimate photos of himself putting the ring on Deiondra’s finger, as well as a video of the moment he proposed to her.

“I haven’t digested the whole thing yet,” future father-in-law and future grandfather Deion, 56, told PEOPLE in April when he became a grandfather for the first time and Deiondra’s baby was on the way.

“I’m proud of my baby for at least waiting until her thirties to give me this gift of life,” Deion added of his eldest child. “I’m happy about it, but I want to make sure she’s on the right track emotionally and mentally as well.”
