MORGAN Wallen’s recent tour announcement has left fans confused after the country singer was forced to postpone a series of performances.

Morgan, 31, is currently performing in the US as part of his One Night At A Time tour.

On Monday, the Whiskey Glasses singer returned to Instagram after a six-week hiatus to announce an additional tour date on September 22 in his hometown of Tennessee.

“I’m coming home,” Morgan captioned a dramatic video montage featuring clips from his past shows.

However, angry fans were quick to point out that Morgan had recently postponed some performances in Florida and North Carolina. One wrote: “How are you going to get more dates when you can’t even keep the ones you had?”

Morgan was forced to postpone his second appearance in Tampa on July 12 after overcoming an illness during the previous night’s show.

“I hate postponing shows but I fought through last night in Tampa despite being sick and unfortunately woke up today feeling much worse,” he wrote on X.

“I wouldn’t give you guys anywhere near 100% tonight and that’s why I have to postpone tonight’s show in Tampa to October 4th and the shows in Charlotte next week to October 18th and 19th.”

Fans planning to attend Morgan’s concert last Friday night expressed their disappointment that the Grammy-nominated singer offered “ZERO apology” for canceling the show “30 minutes before doors opened.”

Under the tour announcement, someone wrote that they had “waited all day for a good seat” at Morgan’s Tampa concert, only to “cancel ten minutes before we were in line to get in.”

“This is the second time a show I wanted to see has been postponed,” she commented.

“Keep adding more shows if you can’t even cope with the ones you have,” said another person.

One fan suggested that instead of announcing additional tour dates, Morgan should “work on showing up to the shows he already has and not cancel 4 hours before.”

Others jumped to Morgan’s defense. One fan wrote: “Leave the man alone, he was sick. He couldn’t give his best. He couldn’t give the fans his all.”

Another celebrated the upcoming show at Neyland Stadium in Knoxville, Tennessee, one of the largest football stadiums in the country, as a major milestone for Morgan.

Morgan Wallen’s legal problems and controversies

The country singer has faced several public backlashes and arrests over the years.

  • 2016: Wallen was charged with drunken driving, but the case was later dropped.
  • May 23, 2020: He was thrown out of a Nashville bar, then arrested and charged with public intoxication and disorderly conduct.
  • October 2020: A video surfaced online showing Wallen breaking up with girls and making out with them without a mask during the lockdown in Alabama.
  • October 7, 2020: His debut appearance on SNL was canceled due to the video and he later posted an apology video on Instagram.
  • February 2, 2021: A video of Wallen calling his friend the N-word was shared online.
  • February 3, 2021: He was pulled from radio stations, suspended from his record label, and released an apology video a week later.
  • October 28, 2021: He was banned from attending the American Music Awards or accepting awards.
  • April 23, 2023: He canceled his concert in Mississippi shortly before the show began, saying it was because he had lost his voice.
  • April 25, 2023: A concertgoer filed a federal lawsuit against the country singer for breach of contract and negligence.

The stadium is home to the Tennessee Volunteers football team and has an official capacity of over 100,000 spectators.

“I’ve had the honor of playing in many college, MLB and NFL stadiums over the past two years, but for a kid from East Tennessee, there’s nothing better than playing for my hometown at Neyland Stadium,” Morgan said in a press release Monday morning.

MORGAN’S RUN

Morgan first came into the spotlight in 2014 when he took part in the sixth season of the hit reality TV show “The Voice”.

The following year, he released his debut EP Stand Alone, followed by three studio albums, including If I Know Me (2018), Dangerous: The Double Album (2021), and One Thing at a Time (2023).

Morgan has been nominated for a Grammy six times, and his 2023 hit “Last Night” topped the Billboard 100 for 16 consecutive weeks, the second-longest stay by a solo artist in the chart’s 65-year history.

Last May, Morgan announced that he would put his “One Night at a Time” world tour on hold after being diagnosed with “vocal cord trauma.”

He resumed the tour on June 22, 2023 in Chicago, Illinois, and started the 2024 leg on April 4 in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Morgan, whose net worth is estimated at about $12 million, has also been involved in numerous controversies in recent years.

He was arrested in Nashville on April 7, 2024, and imprisoned on a felony charge after “allegedly throwing a chair from the six-story roof of a popular bar on the city’s busy Broadway Street.”

The chair reportedly landed near two police officers who were standing in front of the restaurant at the time.

In a statement shared on X on April 20, he admitted he was “not proud” of his behavior, adding: “I have the utmost respect for the officers who work every day to keep us safe. There will be no changes to my service.”

CHAOS

On February 2, 2021, Morgan was caught on video using a racial slur, prompting his label, Big Loud Records, to “indefinitely pause” his career – adding that “such behavior will not be tolerated.”

The clip, first published by TMZ, was recorded by one of his neighbors and shows Morgan using the N-word during an exchange with a friend outside his home in Nashville, Tennessee.

“The video you saw shows me in the 72nd hour of a 72-hour binge and that is not something I am proud of,” the hitmaker said in an apology video posted on his Instagram account on February 11, 2021.

He also urged his fans not to defend him, adding: “I fully accept any punishment I may face.”

Morgan said in an interview with Variety last December, “I will never make an excuse” for his behavior that night, adding, “That person is definitely not the same person I am now.”
