Nominations are now being accepted for the Coolest Thing Made In NY competition

The Business Council of New York State is now accepting nominations for its inaugural “Coolest Thing Made in New York” contest.

“A statewide initiative aimed at highlighting the innovation, creativity and manufacturing expertise of companies across the state,” the council said of the competition.

“This exciting competition will provide manufacturers with a platform to showcase their products and highlight the critical role they play in driving New York’s economy.”

All products manufactured in New York are eligible to participate, even if the company’s headquarters are located elsewhere.

Nominations will be accepted until Sunday, July 21, after which the public can participate in tournament-style voting rounds that will take place throughout August and September.

The winning product will be announced at the New York State Business Council Annual Meeting on Thursday, September 19.

In addition to bragging rights, its inventor will also be a special stop on the organization’s Manufacturing Bus Tour, which runs Friday, October 4, through Thursday, October 10.

According to the Business Council, nearly 419,000 New Yorkers are employed in the manufacturing industry.

The most important sector is the chemical industry, which produces products worth over $15 billion. The pharmaceutical and medical sectors have the most job openings.
