Milwaukee man found dead in submerged vehicle in Lake Michigan

A 63-year-old Milwaukee man is dead after his vehicle was spotted underwater in Lake Michigan in Oak Creek on Saturday evening.

According to the Oak Creek Fire Department, the call came into the dispatch center at about 10:55 p.m. on July 13. The vehicle was located about 50 feet from the boat ramp in Bender Park in 8 to 10 feet of water.

First responders from the Oak Creek Fire Department removed the man from the vehicle. He was identified as Robert Morales, according to a report from the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner. According to the medical examiner’s report, paramedics pronounced him dead at 12:20 a.m. on July 14.

According to the report, the preliminary cause of death is unknown.

Morales’ daughter, who lives in Illinois, identified him from a photograph.

The Milwaukee Fire Department dive team searched the area around the vehicle but was unable to locate any other occupants.

The South Milwaukee Fire Department also assisted with the incident.
