Bay FC striker returns to Club America

Bay FC striker Scarlett Camberos has returned to Club América for an undisclosed transfer fee, the NWSL club announced on Monday.

Camberos left América in March 2023 to join Angel City FC, requesting a transfer after raising concerns about her safety. The Mexican international had become the target of a man who threatened and harassed her and also hacked her social media accounts.

After spending the 2023 season with Angel City, Camberos was traded to Bay FC ahead of the expansion season. The striker has made 10 appearances, including eight starts, and scored one goal for the Californian side this season.

“We are grateful for Scarlett’s hard work and dedication to Bay FC and for helping us lay the foundation in our first season,” said Matt Potter, Head of Soccer and Interim Sporting Director of Bay FC.

“This scenario was quickly discussed between the clubs and ultimately between Scarlett and her agent. We believe we have reached an agreement that supports her aspirations and growth, as well as ours as a club as we continue to build our squad for the future. We wish Scarlett all the best in her continued career and look forward to her return with her new club in the Summer Cup.”

Camberos, 23, was born in California and represents Mexico internationally. She started on Saturday when Mexico lost 1-0 to the U.S. women’s national team in a friendly match.
