Michigan State’s Tom Izzo watched the best high school players over the weekend

Last weekend, the Nike EYBL Peach Jam 2024 began in South Carolina, where the best AAU teams in the country competed against each other.

Michigan State men’s basketball coach Tom Izzo has yet to receive a verbal commitment from anyone in the 2025 recruiting class, but he is working hard on recruiting.

Brandon Jenkins of 247Sports reported that Izzo watched some of the best players in the country over the weekend and scouted three players.

Let’s look at the players:

Jalen Haralson

Haralson is a 6-6 small forward from La Porte, Indiana who plays for La Lumiere in Indiana. Coach Izzo has done a great job recruiting players from the Midwest and players from La Lumiere. Former Spartan Jaren Jackson Jr. and current Spartan point guard Jeremy Fears Jr. both played there during their high school careers.

Haralson is a top-15 five-star prospect who would likely be an immediate starter for Michigan State. Haralson has already scheduled an official visit with the Spartans for September 14.

Trey McKenney

McKenney is a top-20 shooting guard at 6’4″ from Flint, Michigan, who is ranked No. 16 nationally by 247Sports. McKenney is a special shooter who can shoot from far outside the three-point line and run right through you to the basket like a running back. Being from out of town, McKenny has been to campus before and will return for a visit on Oct. 4.

Darius Adams

Adams is another top-20 recruit from La Porte, Indiana, who also plays with Haralson for La Lumiere. Adams is a 6-foot-4 point guard and a great shooter. He shot 40.7 percent on threes on nearly seven attempts per game in EYBL games in May. Adams has already taken an unofficial visit to the Spartans, but has not yet scheduled an official visit for his return to East Lansing.

All three of these players are incredible talents and would be a great addition to Michigan State Basketball. Coach Izzo is in a good place with all three players right now, but that doesn’t mean he should let his foot off the gas. Izzo should keep looking forward, because these three players should be at the top of his list.
