Michigan high school star Dante Nori selected in the first round of the MLB Draft

The summer of 2024 was full of highlights for Dante Nori. His latest highlight is the biggest yet.

Nori, a recent graduate of Northville High School, was selected in the first round of the MLB Draft on Sunday night. Selected 27th overall by the Philadelphia Phillies, Nori was the first high school player from Michigan to be drafted this year.

Nori was an outfielder for Northville last spring and led the Mustangs to their first state championship in program history with a 2-1 win over heavy favorite Bloomfield Hills Brother Rice on June 15.

Nori hit a home run against Bay City Western in the Division 1 semifinals to tie the game at 2-2. Northville won 9-2 and then defeated Brother Rice in the final.

Nori played all 39 games for Northville this spring and finished his season with a .469 average with 22 RBI, 14 doubles, seven triples and two home runs. Nori struck out just 10 times in 115 at-bats. He also scored 52 runs, walked 32 times and stole 20 bases.

Nori is a 5’10”, 195-pound center fielder and was the oldest prospect in the draft, as he was 19 years, nine months and eight days old when he was selected. He signed a contract to play for Mississippi State, but will most likely sign with the Phillies and forgo his scholarship opportunity. The estimated signing value of the 27th overall pick is $3,228,300.
