Six Feet Under’s fourteenth studio album, Killing For Revenge, is out now on Metal Blade Records.

Killing For Revenge is a gnarled beast of a record that is not for the faint of heart. It presents nightmarish imagery thanks to legendary frontman Chris Barnes and his trademark guttural vocals. Both the album title and the darkly detailed, red-tinted album cover by artist Vince Locke are perfect containers for the brutality within.

Six Feet Under was formed as a side project by Barnes during his final years with the band he co-founded, Cannibal Corpse, and in 1995 he began focusing solely on the band, coinciding with the release of their debut Haunted. Barnes is the only one left of Six Feet Under’s original lineup, but the quality has remained remarkably consistent. The current lineup of Barnes, guitarists Jack Owen (ex-Cannibal Corpse) and Ray Suhy, bassist Jeff Hughell and drummer Marco Pitruzzella form a stunning unit.

Killing For Revenge is the second album Barnes and Owen have recorded together since reuniting for Nightmares Of The Decomposed in 2020. Owen also produced the record. The chemistry between the five men is palpable; listening to Killing for Revenge, you might assume they hid away for a few months, working on it in creative seclusion. That’s not the case. “We all recorded it alone, in different parts of the country, as we’re all scattered,” says Barnes. “I think the most important thing is to get everyone in a comfortable space so they can deliver a great performance. That’s what you want to capture. These days, it’s really hard to afford to have everyone in the studio recording like we did in the ’90s. It can be done just as effectively this way.”

Killing For Revenge, which features guitarist Jason Suecof on “Neanderthal,” was mixed and mastered by Chaz Najjar at Badlands Recording in Denver, Colorado.

The record will be released on CD and in digital formats as well as on vinyl in the following color variations:

– Clear with Red Bloodshot (US)
180 g Black (EU)
– Crusted Blood Marbled (EU)
– Khaki brown marbled (EU – Ltd. 300)
– Blood Red Splash (EU – Ltd. 300)
– Gold “Black Dust” (EU – Ltd. 200)
