On Saturday, July 13, designer brand Pretty snake joined Knitting ClubProvidence’s only yarn store and knitting community, celebrates the grand opening of its double store on Brook Street.

Knit Club, originally curated by designer DEGEN, was originally an online forum where knitters and fashionistas could share, learn and teach their craft with likeminded artists. Members get free access to Zoom knitting circles, knit-along events and a feed with the best advice for every “knit-uation”. For $5 per monthMembers can unlock video and written tutorials.

Lindsay Degen, owner of Knit Club, believes that integrating her brand into Providence’s dynamic community will add to the city’s creativity, especially alongside Pretty Snake.

“We are very excited to expand our presence and become part of this vibrant creative community,” says Degen. “Every big city should have a great yarn store.”

Providence-based designer Joseph Aaron Segal has sold Pretty Snake clothing in major retailers such as Urban Outfitters and ModCloth since founding the brand in 2009. While Pretty Snake clothing has been manufactured and designed in Providence for many years, this brick-and-mortar location is the first of its kind.

“Ever since I started Pretty Snake, opening a brick-and-mortar store in Providence has been a dream,” says Segal, who is also a knitting and textiles instructor at the Rhode Island School of Design.
