Yellowstone fans are not impressed with Taylor Sheridan’s portrayal of a “s*x siren” in the show, which some fans consider to be completely miscast

Since it first graced our screens, Taylor Sheridan’s Yellowstone has earned a loyal fan base with its compelling storylines and complex characters. The series is full of incredible characters, but also has its share of villains who have proven to be popular antagonists with fans. However, one recently introduced villain doesn’t seem to be going over so well with fans.

That particular villain is Sarah Atwood, portrayed by Dawn Olivieri, who was introduced in season five of the series. While Sheridan is celebrated for his compelling narratives and characters, fans have recently seemed to raise concerns about his portrayal of female characters, particularly Sarah, who comes across as both miscast and flat.

Taylor Sheridan is often hailed as a great writer, having created some of the best television shows and films of all time. Fans of Yellowstone don’t seem happy about the addition of season five antagonist Sarah Atwood. The character, a lawyer hired by Market Equities CEO Carline Warner, is one of the first antagonists to appear in the series and is closest to the Dutton family.

However, fans are not happy with the performance, the script or the casting of the character, who was supposed to be a “sex siren” villain. Some fans believe that Sarah’s character is more like a “soap character” and lacks the charm or sophistication that one would normally expect from a femme fatale in a series like Yellowstone.

The criticism doesn’t end with Sarah, however, as fans believe that Sheridan is generally incapable of writing well-developed female characters. Comparing his female characters to those of the “Disney villains,” who are inadequate and underdeveloped, fans believe that Taylor Sheridan is only capable of creating male characters. And when it comes to well-developed, sophisticated female characters, the author’s female characters are not fully fleshed-out individuals with agency of their own.

Taylor Sheridan’s Yellowstone has several brilliant female characters, from protagonists to supporting characters to antagonists. However, fans believe that despite her talent for crafting intricate storylines and developing complex male characters, Sheridan’s female characters often lack the depth and nuance that their male counterparts exhibit.

While most fans continue to defend the actor and author, fans on Reddit had a lot to say about Sarah and other female characters from Yellowstone.

As Yellowstone With The 4000 coming to an end soon, we just hope that Taylor Sheridan can flesh out his female characters better and deliver performances that resonate more with audiences. Given the amount of dramas Sheridan writes, he is poised for even more success in the future, and we hope he can improve his writing when it comes to writing more nuanced female characters.

In the meantime, Yellowstone can be streamed on Peacock.
